Mission

The Associate Vice President for Academic Success and units (Testing Evaluation and Measurement Center [TEMC], Academic Testing for Students with Disabilities [ATSD], and Student Learning Assistance Center [SLAC]) reporting to this office provide supplementary, essential services to students and faculty at Texas State. Specifically, we offer supplemental instruction, tutoring, academic skill development opportunities, test preparation, and a secure testing environment for all students. The AVPAS also provides leadership and oversight of the General Education Core Curriculum and General Education Council, Honor Code policy and processes, Academic Summer Camps and Protection of Minors on Campus, the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Selection Committee, and serves as the Academic Affairs liaison to the Behavior Assessment Team, Endowment Compliance Committee, and the ADA/504 Compliance and Steering Committee on Disabilities. Academic Services at Texas State promote a student-oriented culture that sustains academic excellence, fosters student development, ensures access, and supports high levels of student achievement and success.
